This is actually the 2nd USB host card I have tried in 2 separate desktops. I have purchased 2 cards each time, one for each desktop, both fairly new desktops, and each time a different mfg. For the card. One desktop is a Dell XPS system on Win 7 and theother is a Asus A55bm-Plus mainboard on Win 10. I have 35 years exp. Building desktops and 20 years esp. As a software developer and this problem is just about to drive me crazy.

In both systems the provided drivers install fine and show up as working properlyin the device manager. But nothing will be recognized as plugged, weather it's 2.0 or 3.0 compliant. Hi,I don't know if this link will help or not.I remember seeing issues with the NECRenesas before, but don't remember the problem.I have two machines that are using a ASMedia USB 3.0 chip that work perfectly on any version of Windows 788.110.Did both of your different manufacturers use the same Chip, or different?You might try right clicking on the controller in Device Manager and 'Uninstall' then reboot.BTW. My Asmedia USB 3.0 drivers in Win 10 are actually provided by Microsoft. Yeah, you definitely should not need the drivers that came with the card.Most of these add in cards require that you plug power into them as well (generally a Molex or SATA power connection on them).

Is that plugged in? I know that's probably a dumb question with the background you posted above, but I ask anyway just to makesure.When you submit the feedback report, please mention that you're seeing that error too. Once you get that message, do you ever see the controller go into an error state in device manager? Thanks so much.

I would have expected a power cable in the box and some instructions. Strange that my USB 2.0 card didn't need additional power.The only drivers that would work with the new card were the Microsoft drivers provided with Win 10. One of the packages I installed included a USB 3.0 Host Controller icon for some software that will not work. It just says 'Host card not found'. But thetwo 4-TB hard drives & my Note 5 are all recognized and working as expected.Now I'll try the Win 7 desktop. At this point the only issues I expect is a choice of drivers.Thanks again.Chris.
